Overland Agency

Is closing and Arve Overland is leaving the country.

  1. True, Arve is leaving the country, but the agency isn't closing.

  2. Weird. I heard it shut down last week.

    Evidence to the contrary anyone?

  3. I heard it shut down last week too.

The Overland Agency without Arve Overland is kind of like the Jackson 5 without Michael...

  4. No employees.

    No more payroll.

    No more office.

    What company?

  5. The Overland Agency without Arve Overland is kind of like the Pequod without Ahab, hey maybe some shit could have been done instead of dicking around for a whale.

They are done, though. Three or four people working remotely doesn't count as a company.

  6. Hey, anyone feel like writing down their best Arve stories?

  8. I worked for Arve and he is, without a doubt, a world class asshole with delusions of grandeur and a criminal to boot. But I can't take much joy in this. People, probably young, inexperienced people since that's the only ones who would work for him at this point, lost their jobs. And he's got a wife and young kids whose world is getting torn up. The whole thing is just sad and tawdry.

  9. It warms the cockles of my heart to read this. It really does.

What goes around truly does come around...

  10. I have never worked with or met Mr Overland professionally, but I was introduced through an ex-colleague who had worked with the gentleman in question...however, some weeks prior to that introduction, I had witnessed a complete idiot, craving for attention in a well known Portland Restaurant, he was loud, crass, boorish and harassing the waitresses. It was clear from the company of the table, that they were also highly uncomfortable with his behavior and after they made their escape, he continued....a few weeks later my colleague introduced me to the man....oh, dear...

I opened by stating that I had no professional relationship with Mr Overland, which I stand by, however, at the point where someone with no personal or professional grudge, takes the time to post their instant and unbiased reaction to an individual, you have to start raising some questions....

  11. Arve and Greg should be ashamed of their disgusting behavior. Sadly they have neither the intelligence nor the shame to do so. I hope Arve packs that little sycophant in his pocket and takes him to where ever the hell he's going.

  12. So the CEO has left the country, the office is closed and full of moving boxes. I'm not sure why Greg or Arve was trying to say they were still in business in an earlier comment, but I think everybody else knows what is going on. Hope they didn't leave too many clients high and dry.

  13. The Overland Agency is still alive and well! We're delivering the same high quality product to our clients that we have been for the past 10 years! Long live OA!

  14. Really? Well I guess we'll all hook up at their offices and be proven wrong. See everyone for lunch at 720 NW Davis.

  15. Isn't Arve Øverland Norwegian (norsk)? Does that mean he is moving back to Norway, also known as Norge ((Bokmål) or (Nynorsk)).

    ReplyDelete
  16. "alive and well"? Not according to a senior staff member who's now out of work and reached out to me after the "owner moved away with little notice." Way to go OA...

    ReplyDelete
  17. Arve Øverland er en tyven.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Arve Øverland stjal fra sine ansatte pensjonering, deretter skjøt dem da de konfronterte ham. Han er hva amerikanerne kaller en psykopat.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I challenge anybody saying Overland is "alive and well" to name anybody currently employed there.

Looks like Arve/Greg might be hoping for a couple more client checks to come in before they let them know that there isn't anybody to do the work.

  20. The Overland Agency has been the premium interactive agency in Portland for over 10 years and is likely to flourish for many more to come. Perhaps the employees that left should have shown a little more faith. Long live OA!

  24. Taking potshots at a company when one wasn't directly involved with its operations isn't particularly helpful or persuasive to your case.

You simply cannot expect to get objectivity from those who disparage a company and its personnel from behind the veil of anonymity.

I'd suggest if any of you have questions about the future of OA contact them directly.

  25. The Overland Agency is the premier interactive agency and will continue to service its valued clients in the seamless manner it always has and always will. Arve Overland is an astute businessman and has made a positive contribution to the local economy for the last decade. He has a keen eye for identifying market opportunities coupled with a natural inclination for business management. His business will continue to grow and prosper, and he'll eventually be recognized as one of the most successful propreitors in Portland.

  29. contributing to what? this site is for a bunch of jaded, unemployed hacks with axes to grinds because they can't find jobs. and once they do, they'll be back in six months bashing the next people who were believed in them enough to give them a job.

    ReplyDelete
  30. We're employed. Arve is a criminal, as proven by the fact the Department of Labor has a thick file on him. Sounds like you're a buddy trying to gloss over the facts. I'm sure Arve and Greg are proud of you....if you actually aren't Arve and Greg.

    1. Yeah that sounds like the self important bore Greg.

  31. Look, the defenders are the buddies. No one with a conscience supports 401(k) theft unless they're a pal, fellow theif, or one of the immoral idiots mentioned on this site. Relax, we know who's talking here. The facts are very clear. No need to grace this guy with an answer.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Exactly - all the people that post on this ridiculous site are the agency throwbacks that haven't been employed since mid 2008. Move on with your lives, you all obviously weren't cut out for this industry in the first place, especially if a guy like Arve Overland got the best of you. Suckers!

  33. Seriously? That's not at all what I was saying. Now I KNOW who you are...

YOU: "You guys are all fucking assholes."
ME : I take your comment to mean, "You former employees are deplorable for relishing in my, that is to say Arve Overland's, current state of affairs." Maybe so, but the shock and betrayal that he put us through needed an outlet.

    YOU: "Contributing to what?"
ME : Your views and opinions regarding how you, er, Arve Overland ran his company and treated his employees.

YOU: "...bunch of jaded, unemployed hacks with axes to grinds..."
ME : Arve "stole" from his employees retirement. The scorn is justified. We're not unemployed or unemployable. Axes to grind? Most definitely!

YOU: "Once they do [find jobs], they'll be back in six months bashing the next people who believed in them enough to give them a job."
ME : Bashing people who believed in them? Because if you rob me, but believe in me, I should let it slide? Arve's belief about the competency of his employees was backed up by work we produced despite a CEO over-promising on features, out of scope and not in clients budget.

  38. the only positive contribution Arve has made to the local anything is when he boarded a plane and left.

  39. I took money that was supposed to go in my employees 401k plans and used it to run my business and pay myself. I only paid it back when they insisted, giving me the option to report myself (if they reported me I might face jail time). This is a factual statement.

  40. Greg Tozian's twitter, from a few days ago:

"Been off of Twitter 2 months while my entire life was changing. Change is good. Has anyone posted anything while I was gone?"

    Hmm!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Twitter is for losers anyway. Nobody cares what other people are doing throughout their days, at all. Nobody's lives around here are even that interesting - this site is definitely proof of that.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Spoken by someone who clearly doesn't understand twitter. The only people who post the mundane aspects of their daily activities are new to twitter.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I wonder if Arve Overland understands Twitter.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It's unusual,I never heard either Arve or Greg say anything positive about any former staff when I was there, yet when people leave OA they seem to go on to bigger and better things. Weird.

    ReplyDelete
  45. OA is not alive and well.

  46. Wait for it ladies and gentlemen, out of the ashes of the old Overland Agency, comes a glorious phoenix in the form of new company, "Freebird Digital." FD's clients will now be afforded the finest digital marketing expertise!

  50. I was a former client of Arve's. We have sent him to collections (we were not the only ones). He took a pre-payment for work he did not complete and then closed his agency with two days notice and left the country.
